Effective Ways to Become More Grateful Everyday
The more grateful I am the more blessings I tend to experience. That’s just been my life. That is how I know the blessings that lie in gratitude. As a matter of fact, I can honestly say that I will forever be grateful for the gratitude I’ve exerted throughout the course of my life. It has not only lightened my load but has also introduced a newfound light to my path.
“More! Bigger! Better!,” we tend to hear. We’re taught to seek more and never settle for less. We’re taught to constantly seek for they’re so much out there to find. And if we look around us, that’s what we see around us. We move so fast that we forget to be grateful for the little things. Along the course of our pursuit, too often do we overlook what’s in front of us in getting there.
From the moment we’re introduced into this world, we’re told to go get it. But the one thing we were never told about was the many gifts we already possessed. With this lack of knowledge, we’ll more likely search outside of ourselves for the things we already possess. It wasn’t until I learned how to become more grateful did things shift for me.
Become More Grateful and Feel More Alive
I decided to pursue a bachelor’s in civil engineering and knew it would be a challenge. I also thought that I would have to give up so much in order to gain what I wanted. The truth is, things were about to get a little bit harder. I would need to dig deeper to accomplish this feat. But little did I know that everything I needed was already in my proximity, within arms reach.
Although I traded in my lifestyle and social life, what I was about to gain would prove priceless. As a matter of fact, it would shift the way I lived moving forward. I began thinking of all the things I’d have to give up to attain this goal. But by choosing to be more grateful, I was able to enhance my quality of living. Although things were a bit tougher, it would all be worth going through.
When you take a moment, a real moment, you’ll realize just how much you see. Within this moment, a luxury to see the many blessings that already lie before us. It’s the sun, the moon, the stars, the river, and the many lives the life within them all. To be more grateful for life, not for what it gives me, but for what it has already given me in abundance.
Nothing was more fascinating to me than to realize the illusion that I had been living. To think that an idea of living was more real than the illusion we’re encouraged to create. Don’t get me wrong. There’s nothing wrong with wanting more in life. As a matter of fact, there’s nothing wrong with building more either. Just keep in mind, along this journey, to acknowledge the infinite source you’ve already been provided with. The only way to become more grateful is by being present so that these gifts may find you.
Cherish the Many Gifts Gratitude Brings
To be honest, although we are all blessed with these many gifts, not many of us experience them. It’s not because we don’t want to. It’s because we fail to present ourselves to the present moment that holds it. Slow down a bit. Listen, smell, see, taste, and touch. Because within each of these senses lies an abundance of gifts.
Too many times do we take the little things in our lives for granted. Our ability to taste good food. We’re so busy moving on to the next thing we fail to enjoy the very foods we eat. When you take a moment to eat, do just that. Take the time to enjoy the taste of the food. Our focus is sometimes on other things while the food we’re blessed to have we fail to enjoy. To be grateful is to show appreciation for what you’ve been provided with.
We should be grateful for things we get to see, the sounds we get to hear, the many things we get to see and touch, and the wonderful smells we get to smell. When you think about these mini blessings, you can’t help to think of the many micro blessings that come along with them. Within each of these senses, a limitless amount of experiences within them all.
When we become more grateful, we don’t seek, we gather. We understand what we need can never overlook the multitude of things we’ve got going for ourselves. Sometimes what seeks us is right there for us to smell, to touch, to taste, to hear, and to see. Be grateful for it all because behind it all lies the true world we’ve been blessed with.
