Episode #145 – Daily Positive Affirmations to Improve Your Mindset
With all of the information we are constantly being polluted with, it’s no wonder positive affirmations go a long way. The truth is, this way of thinking or BEING can have a great amount of impact on our spiritual and mental state.
Now, you may not have heard of the concept of positive affirmation, but it’s been around for a while. It’s just that many of us are just catching on to this practice. How do you normally start your morning routine?
Too many times do we fail to acknowledge the importance of the way we start our day. I’ve come to realize that the way I start my mornings have the ability to build or break the day. Therefore, maintaining such positive affirmation increases our productivity immensely.
When it’s all said and done, creating the life you want requires that you are intentional about how you step into each day. The more positive affirmations you exert, the more your days begin to shape themselves.
A Positive Mindset
Let’s be honest, what we keep on our minds makes a difference. If you’re not building your mind, you’re sabotaging it. As I mentioned before, what doesn’t build, breaks. Thinking positively will change the way you see life. But if you aren’t there some positive affirmations will take you there.
It not only builds your self-confidence, but it also gives you another option at life as well.
So, what are positive affirmations? To answer that questions, they are only short potent phrases that are used to combat the negative thoughts we keep. Incorporating this into our daily lives can skyrocket our self-esteem and influence positive change.
During my college years, the pressure was constantly on. Because of this grading system that we sometimes allow to define us, we can be a bit hard on ourselves. But it is never really necessary. Having been in this state, what saved me was positive affirmations and meditation.
Just like any medicine, it doesn’t cure you from negativity, but it definitely serves as a way of flushing it out. We constantly deal, therefore we constantly seek healing. That is why positive affirmations are not only necessary, but they go a long way.
Why Positive Affirmations Work
If you’re trying to incorporate positive affirmations into your lives for the first time, it may come off a bit odd. Don’t stop there. Remember, whatever you’ve tried up to this point hasn’t been a friend of yours. So try something different.
Positive affirmations not only contain health benefits, but it also contains mental benefits as well. With these benefits come lower levels of stress. With a lower dose of stress comes a lesser chance of experiencing depression altogether.
Throughout my years on this planet, I’ve always associated sickness with a cough or a cold. Little did I contribute my migraines to my mental state. Little did I know about my ability to bring sickness onto myself.
Using Positive Affirmations
Now that we’ve covered what positive affirmations are and their benefits, it’s time we move on to the next step. How do we apply it so that we start living a more positive life? Well, I’ll share a bit of insight into how it is all done.
You can first start off by jotting down a few positive sentences or phrases that you can look back on when needed. You can move on to creating a visual to help you make your goals real. Nothing better than pictures for they speak a thousand words.
Of course, nothing in life is perfected without repetition. Therefore, make it a practice, a way of living by repeating them daily. Not only will you experience true calmness, but you’ll feel what it’s like to be grounded through positive affirmations.
How it’s Done
When I was in college studying civil engineering, I exerted way too much pressure on myself. At times, I couldn’t move on to being productive and needed a way out. I’ll share with you an example of what I did to help take myself out of state. With that, I found that there is nothing like positive affirmations.
- I am an engineer
- The lesson before me is not above me
- I am more than capable of achieving
- Everything I need is already within me
- I know I can do this
- I am powerful beyond measure
- Knowing my greatness is owning my output
- I trust that the necessary tools hold space within me
- I am grateful for this opportunity to prove myself
- The outcome of this exam is within reach
- I am in control of the outcome
Positive Affirmations Through Relationships
Positive affirmations are important because they have the ability to shift the way we approach our relationships. If you’re looking to create something long-lasting, it all starts from within. These encouraging statements help us with our approach to displaying love.
When you’re able to communicate the love you feel and the support you show, your intimacy rises. That is why, through positive affirmations, we use words of love that will help build our partner up. We can also do this through the way we choose to spend time together.
Try creating weekly or monthly events with you and your spouse. If there are kids involved, you might want to find some options to include them as well. It not only reinforces positivity, but positive affirmations also strengthen our relationships with the ones we love most.
