Episode #84 – Things That Make You Feel Happy All the Time
What makes you feel happy all of the time? Is there any such thing that exists? I’m sure that we’ve all encountered someone that never manages to shift no matter what life throws at them. Although I know that people can be genetically disposed to happy feelings, there are many ways to fulfill this.
If you’re not there yet, don’t you worry. The great thing about this journey is that there are many ways to make your own happiness. Just when you thought you had to wait for it, you come to realize how you can create it yourself.
Just Be Grateful
No greater reason to find value in life than by acknowledging all of the blessings we are receiving. When you live in gratitude, you have much more to be thankful for than you can imagine. To feel happiness, one must feel life. And to feel life, one must be connected to all of its components.
If you’re reading this, there’s a great chance you were able to wake up this morning. Therefore, if you were able to wake up this morning, it means that you were able to make it to bed. Take advantage of the power of gratitude by intentionally taking time out to give thanks.
Try it. For the sake of feeling happy, write 4 to 5 things you feel you are grateful for. Don’t forget to mention why. After you’ve jotted it all down, picture it vividly in your mind so that it becomes a part of your every being. Studies even back that the level of happiness is dictated by the level of gratitude.
The Best Way to Feel Happy is by Giving
Now I know you like gifts, but the question is, how do you feel about giving? It’s so easy to do things for ourselves because we reap the benefits and only we feel it. But I challenge you to change the focus from you onto someone else.
You’ll find that the more you help others, the more you feel happy. I promise you you will. The feeling you get from giving is like no other. Because although you are giving, you are still receiving. When you are able to help someone or add value to their lives, it makes you feel better inside.
As a matter of fact, giving means you are communicating with the world around you. You know that despite your circumstances, everything will be fine. You don’t have to have the world in your hands to give.
One of the hardest times of my journey was when I had less. Ironically, one of the most meaningful times of my life is when I had nothing to give, but yet, gave everything. The giving of what I didn’t have made me feel that everything was going to work itself out. By taking the attention away from me and directing it onto someone else, I was able to change my focus.
And by changing my focus onto someone else, made me realize that I had no real problems after all. In fact, the happy feelings I had been seeking through receiving gifts, I had gained through giving them away. At the end of the day, I felt the more I gave, the more I would gain in the process.
Be Intentional About the Smile You Share
As I previously mentioned, if you’re reading this, then you’re awake and alive. And if you’re awake and alive, then you have all of the reason in the world to smile. Just do it. No need to ask any questions. Because unlike you, not many can say they can do the same.
During my college run, I knew it would be hard. Therefore, I knew, more than ever, that I would need to fuel myself with the feelings I was seeking. One of the most powerful tools I was able I’d use is a smile. There’s something about a smile that seems to cause an internal shift, allowing you to feel that smile from within.
And once that smile is felt, there’s no one that can take that happy feeling away from you. There’s a phycological aspect to it as well. In case you are wondering what to smile for, gratitude. As long as you are filled with this, you will find happiness in places you’ve never looked.
